Not for the Slowrunner. I am tired of heatsoak.

Which car and what part? Inquiring minds want to know!

What did you get?
![]() 06/28/2018 at 18:11 |

I’m going to assume an intercooler.

Mid engine V8 Swap

That car and a 50% larger intercooler.

A Whoosh direct fit intercooler.

Yup.
![]() 06/28/2018 at 18:15 |

huh. Let me know how it is! I have the Mountune intercooler, so far so good. Do you have an upgraded rad?

black for extra HP?

I never had heat soak problems with mine. All stock engine wise. I monitored post ic temps and they were reasonable. Is your car tweaked?
![]() 06/28/2018 at 18:30 |

It’s tuned, but I’ve heard of stock heatsoaking when driven fairly hard.
![]() 06/28/2018 at 18:30 |

No, polished for extra scene points.
![]() 06/28/2018 at 18:31 |

Nope, not yet. I’m hoping maybe this lowers coolant temps a bit due to having less hot air in front of the radiator.

I’m not rich.

Good. I imagine the small turbo boosting early combined with the small cooler cooks it pretty fast? I get bad heatsoak during the summer despite the large surface area and dumb little secondary intercooler. Someday I’ll cough up the $700 for a larger one.

I didn’t say it had to be a good V8...
![]() 06/28/2018 at 18:35 |

Yeah, here in SC I get one pull out of it before it’s pretty hot, and I regularly see 120+ charge air temps. So it was time. On stock tune, it’s a 15whp gain, so I can’t wait to see what it will be like tuned.
![]() 06/28/2018 at 18:35 |

That’s still thousands to make it work.
![]() 06/28/2018 at 18:36 |

Good idea to have it installed soon if it’s going to keep being so damn hot around here!

What brand IC did you go with? Mishimoto? Mountune? Ect.

LOL, a stick welder, transaxle from a wrecked grand prix and an SBC don’t cost ‘thousands’. You can even return the stick welder to recoup some of the cost! *Live a little, man! Think of the page views you’d get on here with the worlds only mid engine Fiesta!
*This is terrible advice, please do not follow it.

Nice. 15 wheel would definitely be noticeable on such a light car. The consistency will be even better.
I don’t even bother anymore when it’s hot. The computer pulls boost and timing as well and it feels like driving through mud. I get used to it then all of sudden the car feels like a rocket when air temps are under 80F.

Whoosh. It’s the same core that Cobb and Mountune uses, just cheaper. The supplier seems to be a great as well, and he’s been around for a while.

Yep, it’s feeling slow. It was time.

What does your tuner say the hp increase may be? When I put a larger intercooler on (Volvo C30) the tuner didn’t have to make any changes and the impact was huge. Then when I went to a full 3" turbo back exhaust and an intake he tuned for it all, mostly adjusting timing. It’s a really worthwhile mod and I hope you enjoy it.

I don’t know, it should self adjust though. Stock gains are like 15whp.
![]() 06/28/2018 at 19:22 |

Certainly not the world’s only mid-engine Fiesta:
![]() 06/28/2018 at 19:40 |

Yeah, I’ve heard both things from many different people. I tracked mine a bit and it ran like a top. Datalogs of t emps never showed anything to be off. Great car to track too!

water meth injection? good
![]() 06/29/2018 at 06:47 |

All 200whp doesn’t really necessitate that.

tru but still fun to have haha

If I ever upgrade the turbo, I will add 4 port injection though.
